John Matra

John Matra is Senior Vice President of Business Development at Waterfall Mobile, Inc. He oversees the company's business development and sales efforts with advertising agencies, national brand advertisers, and major media companies across film, music, television, radio & print. Matra is also responsible for developing relationships with key strategic partners, bringing to Waterfall Mobile significant deal expertise in working with wireless carriers, content owners, publishers and advertisers to develop long-term strategic, revenue generating partnerships. He leads the company's East coast operations as general manager of Waterfall Mobile's New York office. Matra has over 12 years of experience in digital media, the last 6 years focused on mobile technology platforms.

Prior to joining Waterfall Mobile, Matra was the VP of Sales at Motricity and personally led or directed the negotiation of mobile technology platform license deals with wireless carriers, agencies and a host of major media companies including, NBC Universal, Fox Broadcasting, A&E/The History Channel, Showtime, Sony BMG, Warner Music Group, Universal Music Group, Clear Channel, Live Nation, Conde Nast, the Meredith Corporation, Tribune and Fandango, among others.

Matra was one of the co-founders of GoldPocket Wireless, a mobile technology company that was acquired by Motricity in July 2006. As the SVP of Business Development at GoldPocket Wireless, Matra led a team that included business development, sales and carrier relations, the latter being instrumental in securing and maintaining the company's SMS aggregation business with all the major wireless carriers in the U.S.

Other positions held by Matra include: co-founder and SVP of Business Development at SMS.ac; VP of Business Development at Sony Pictures Digital; Director of Business & Legal Affairs at Event411.com, and associate lawyer at Behr & Abramson, a Beverly Hills, CA based entertainment law firm.

Matra received his J.D. from U.C. Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco and a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Southern California, in Los Angeles.
